Come see us at Futurebuild 2020

Robots, Industry 4 mixing machinery and fully automated, composite casting technology – just a few things we’ve been up to lately. “What about the roof tiles” you say? Ok, we know we’ve been way longer than anticipated bringing Carapace to market. But going from a start-up, micro-cottage industry to a high volume, market-responsive manufacturing facility hasn’t been easy and we won’t be the only mfg start-up burdened with these challenges.

We’ve always felt certain that in order to create a nimble and sustainable manufacturing solution capable of rapid growth and reactive to shifting market trends, you need to do something different. Plus we didn’t have millions to spend on a giant factory, industrial CAPEX and staff. Instead, we (with the immeasurable help of Innovate UK and the Manufacturing Technology Centre) decided to spend our limited resources on integrating our composite casting technology with a Kuka KR60 robot named Hans and squeezing it all inside a 40ft shipping container. Mad? Completely…but for our own sanity, we prefer to call it ambitious.

And on that note, we’ll be standing (modestly) amongst the nation’s most ambitious and pioneering innovators within the built environment at Futurebuild 2020. The three-day exhibition takes place 3rd-5th March at ExCel London. Team Carapace will be representing at stand no. 1 F130. Please come by and see us, we’d love to share our story with you – and you’ll get the first ever preview of our mad factory in a box.
